Man about town, Lee Kelly, has been DJing around Dublin for several years and is one of POGO's (Every Saturday at The Twisted Pepper) most reliable residents. (Because he runs it!) He spoke to us about the records that get him through almost every occasion.

I think it's safe to say that almost every boiler room set out there does not fail to provide top notch choons but Waze & Odyssey just bring it to another level for me. It's 5pm and I'm dancing around my flat as if it's last Friday night at Club Der Visionaire.

If you had asked me about six months ago who this UK duo were, I couldn't have told you, but ever since I played their R Kelly remix of Bump N' Grind at a gig back in March I've been seeing nothing but mention of them all over the online dance community with remixes and originals alike.

'The UK duo of Waze & Odyssey have quickly become a reputable outfit in club music circles, responsible for a consistent run of bass-infused house rollers that have landed them spots on labels like Southern Fried, petFood, Disco Bloodbath, and more. Recently, the pair lent a blistering track to the killer More Music label compilation—the mixed version of which is available exclusively from Beatport Mixes—which came just weeks after Waze & Odyssey’s “Turn the Volume On”/”Rejected” single dropped via the London-based Body Work imprint.

Suffice it to say, the duo has been putting in work, and as their output has picked up speed, so has the demand for their DJ sets around the globe.'

[ BEAT THE HOUSE DOWN! Pres. The Ladies Guide to House & Techno. April.6.2013 ]

I help run a once-monthly night in Galway, Beat The House Down. Last Saturday (April 6th) we put on an all girl line-up, featuring Kelly 303, Lisa M. Wright, Myself and Karey Mc Hugh of S2K. The night couldn't have gone any better if i'm honest, I like to think we definitely proved to a few non-believers that there lot of talented female DJs out there too. We even had Galway local, 'Bongo Brian' playing alongside for some of our sets.. which actually sounded a lot better than you might think. I've uploaded my set to soundcloud so you can have a listen here;

[ WHP13 MIX 020 /// VISIONQUEST PT 1 - THE DANCEFLOOR x WHP ]

Anything with the name Visonquest attached automatically gains my attention. Great little mix with a bit of everything thrown in for good measure. A little warm-up for their appearance at Manchester's 'The Warehouse Project' on April 27th which will be the last show before they return in September/October later this year.

'The Visionquest crew; Seth Troxler, Shaun Reeves, Ryan Crossan and Lee Curtiss bring their thirteen tour to The Warehouse Project on Saturday 27th April alongside friends Tale Of Us, Dinky and Laura Jones.. this mix was recorded live from their party at Shoreditch House'

Life Festival takes place at one of Europe's most unique venues: Belvedere House, a sprawling manor constructed in 1740. Its gardens have hosted dozens of DJs and live acts in the past few years, and in late May will welcome Seth Troxler, Amon Tobin, Modeselektor and a slew of other artists for Life Festival's eighth edition. Most of the other acts appearing hail from the UK and Ireland, with Karenn, Floating Points and Sunil Sharpe all confirmed. International names include Kerri Chandler, Bulgarian live act KiNK and the big room house of Berlin duo Booka Shade.

Delighted that Life Festival has finally made it onto the international map. I first visited this festival in 2010, and am still reeling over great and hilarious memories from that weekend. Friends of mine have been going since the early days, which used to take place in Gort, Co. Galway, and while it has definitely changed from the wonderful hippy/psytrance vibe of the old days,  this years line-up does anything but disappoint.

And now i'm even more disgusted that i'll be missing it.... *Sigh
